Published in 1987, this book is now OUT OF PRINT.  There were several later editions including soft covers, but this book is a hardcover with dust jacket and states that it is a First Edition on the copyright page.  So, not only will this be a nice reference book, but may become a collectible in its own right.  Overall this book is in very nice condition.  There is usual wear on edges of dust jacket with one small bump in the hard cover upper corner.  There is also a small rip in the dust jacket at bottom corner by Barbie's feet.  Rip is about two inches long and may be able to be taped from the back.  When book is tilted in the light I can see impression marks where someone may have written on paper using this book as the hard surface.    Still the graphic on cover are bright and clear.

This book is filled with lots of information about Barbie and the influence of fashion design in her life.   It starts out with Barbie's debut in 1959 and goes through the different styles from the 60s through the 80s.  The author has included information on some of today's fashion designers that have been captivated by Barbie's charm, such as Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Perry Ellis, Mary McFadden, etc.  The book is large, approximately  9" x 12 ¼".  It is 192 pages.
