This paperback book was published in 1992 and would be of interest to the doll collector who likes a variety of fashion or celebrity dolls. It is a nice general overview of some of the more popular dolls spanning 40 years, though by no means does it include them all. It is a compilation of many different dolls, some that are not usually given much mention in reference books. Many depict actual celebrities, others just popular dolls, with short articles on each. Though Barbie is shown on the cover and there are a lot of photos and references to Barbie, there are several other dolls mentioned in the book such as Jem, Brooke Shields, Lady Luminous, Cher, Diana Ross, Miss Revlon, Ginny, Starr, Kimberly, Patti Playpal and more.
