FOR SALE: Early 50s Ginny in Medford tagged dress.
Item Code #D-G-S5000    ~
SOLD~

Not sure of the exact year of this strung painted lash sleep eye doll because I found her nude.  Her wig is in very nice condition but it may be a replacement (looks like mohair) because it doesn't look like the majority of Ginny wigs that I have seen over the year from this era.  It is however, very attractive on her and goes great with her harder to find brown eyes.  I dressed her in this cute Ginny dress that I have seen in the reference books it a lot of the deluxe sets as an extra dress for Ginny.  I don't believe it has an actual cataloged number.  I thought that the pink in the dress went well with her dark hair and eyes. The shoes are plastic side-snap Ginny marked shoes with heels.  Nice matching pink rayon socks with good elasticity.  A lovely Ginny for display even though her lashes and brows are faded.
Additional photos below:

I can't be certain with 100% accuracy that this wig is an original.  However, it is in very nice condition and definitely gives Ginny a very sweet look.  Because Vogue experimented a lot with wigs in the early 50s, I don't know that I have enough knowledge on every variation.  This doll's wig's texture is soft and somewhat like mohair.  The bangs are all part of the wig, not a separate piece.  The stitching doesn't go all the way down the back but the bottom hair criss-crosses into the braids and complete covers the back of her head.  It is neatly braided into two braids that have very old ribbon ties.   If this is a replacement it may be an old one and was put on very professionally.  It certainly is attractive.

Ginny's panties are matching pink satin with the loopy trim.  Some of the loops look a bit warn (panties may have been laundered at one time).  Her pink socks are in excellent condition, very stretchy with no runs.  The shoes are from the mid-50s.  Plastic side-snaps with heels.  They are marked Ginny. Minor scuffing on shoes and right shoe has a small gash in front.

The overall condition of her plastic body is nice.  All seams appear tight.  Stringing is tight but arms don't want to pose.

Ginny's asset is that she as the harder to find brown eyes, however, as can be seen in the above photo, her lashes and brows have faded and have that "greenish" tint to them.  Her blush is also rather faint.  Her lip paint is very strong and the deep red color that some of the very early strung dolls had.

BACK VIEW
Dress is very crisp and clean with no age discoloration that is often found on this type of organdy fabric.  Closes with the hook and eye closure.  There is some rust from this metal but not bad.  There are no holes or stains elsewhere on the dress.

If you don't mind Ginny dolls that are not perfect, then don't pass up this cutie.  She is a nice example of a strung Ginny with the harder to find brown eyes and would love to be a part of your collection.  She will display very well in this outfit, or you can redress her in one of your favorite appropriate early strung ones.
