FOR SALE: Hard Plastic 8" Cosmopolitan GINGER Doll from mid-50s.
Item Code #D-Z-CGR
 SOLD

I don't know a whole lot about the specifics of these dolls, but according to my reference book she is most likely from around 1955.  Ginger dolls are not marked. Seam mold line runs through center of ear.
See description and additional photos below:

Ginger came in several eye size variations.  This Ginger has blue sleep eyes (I believe she is referred to as either a "small eye" or  "medium eye") that need help to open and close.  Her wig is a very coarse saran side-part flip that is a bit fly-away and hard to manage.  Overall skin coloring is nice. Soft blush.  She does have a tiny mark near her eyebrow that doesn't want to come off (shown in photo) and some bits of wig glue residue on forehead and cheek, from factory.

There were some patterns available in the 50s for 8" dolls, for crocheted outfits and I believe that this dress most likely was from one of those patterns.  It appears hand crocheted and very well done.  There is no closure in the back.  There is a straight pin holding it together.  She wears pink vinyl unmarked side-snap shoes with very nice pink rayon socks.

Walking mechanism works well.

A nice example of one of Ginny's competitors of the 50s era.  Perhaps this was your childhood doll?  She would make a very nice addition to any Cosmopolitan Ginger doll collection, or 8" Hard Plastic 50s Doll collection.
