American Character Tiny Tears  11"
This is the tiniest of the Tiny Tears made by this company in the late 1950s. Very petite.
She is a played with doll with some wear and tear.  Minor flaws.  She is not being sold as mint, so do not expect perfection.

She has a hard rubber head with rooted scull cap wig of coarse curly saran.  Vinyl body, palms face each other. Made between 1959-1961.  She is wearing an original Tiny Tears dress and bonnet with matching panties.  No shoes.
Marked on back of head:  Amer. Char. Doll/Pat. No. 2675644
Item # D-AC-11TT07  ~SOLD~

She has nice facial coloring overall, but does have a few rubs on her cheeks, forehead, and lip paint.  Eyes are greenish blue and lashes are thick as shown in close-up photos.   Her wig is nice and full.  For some reason these dolls tend to photograph wall-eyed, but her eyes are set evenly and she looks fine.

BACK VIEW
Stitching coming apart at base of bonnet.  Some slight staining to back of bonnet.  There is only one tie.  Fraying on dress under each arm and on lace on panties.  Elastic is stretched out of panties at waist.  They still stay on fine.  Original buttons are all present.

Because this doll was made towards the end of the 50s, she was made with an all vinyl body.  This is a plus in that the early rubber bodies have a tendency to crack or collapse.  Her body will hold up well.

This doll has what is known as "rock-a-bye" eyes which is a desirable feature sought after by collectors. Her eyes stay open when you lay her down and will close slowly if you rock her back and forth.  She no longer makes a cry noise if you squeeze her tummy.  Do not know if she can still cry tears as I do not have her bottle to feed her.

Tiny Tears has lost the very tip of one of her fingers. She also has a defect in the formation of her pinky finger on one hand that is probably from a bubble in the vinyl when her arm was made at the factory (not shown).  This does not affect the top of her hand where the detail is on the fingernail.  Just wanted to mention it. She has all of her 10 toes.

Overall Tiny Tears has a very nice body with good even coloring.  Her hair is full but a little compacted from being stored.  There are some glue discoloration stains at base of wig cap which is very typical of these dolls.

Is this the Tiny Tears that you remember having as a child? She would love to come and live with you.  Or, this "tiny" Tiny Tears would make a fine addition to any Tiny Tears collection.  A real American CLASSIC!
