Ideal 15" Miss Revlon Doll

[Dividing Line Image]

FOR SALE: Ideal's 1950's 15" Miss Revlon
made between 1958-59
Item Code #D-I-REV15   ~ SOLD ~

A beautiful example of one of Ideal's popular fashion dolls of the late 50s.  This is the HARDER TO FIND 15" version that was made for a very short time.  She is marked on the back of her neck Ideal Doll and on her torso IDEAL/15/N.   Her body is a hard vinyl just like the other Revlon dolls and she is jointed at the neck, arms, legs, and waist.  She is wearing an original dress that is known as "Cherries a la Mode" that is well documented  in my reference books.  In fact, you can still see the trace of the original silken tag that has been cut off.  The outfit DID NOT come with a hat for the 15" doll, like it did on the 18" so it is not missing, it was never part of the outfit. The Cherries a la Mode dress only came in pink or this navy blue for the 15" but was offered in other colors for the larger dolls.  The matching half slip is still there however the elastic has given out so someone pinned it in place.  Unfortunately she has lost her panties.  She wears plastic high-heels that are appropriate for these 50s fashion dolls but they are not original to this outfit.   Her nail polish is present on fingers and toes.

She has beautiful creamy facial coloring with soft blush and bright red lips.  Her eyes sparkle and all lashes are present.  Painted lashes and brows are strong

Metal earring loop is still present but the drop pearl is missing from both ears.  There is no greenish tone to the plastic.

There is unraveling of the bias tape where it has pulled away from the fabric.  This would be hidden if the snaps were fixed but I'll leave that up to new owner as I'm not much of a seamstress.

There are four hair plugs in a row that do not have any hair at the base of her neck.  I think that this was how she came from the factory as the hair was applied with a rooting machine.  I've seen others like this.

You
can still see the trace of the original white silken Miss Revlon tag that was originally sewn into the waist, that has been cut off.

~ BACK VIEW ~
Back  shows dress should close with three snaps but only the one at the waist is still operational.  The other two are missing the right half which would be an easy fix to replace.

Miss Revlon's body is in very nice condition.  The vinyl is very smooth.  There is a slight difference in color between the two legs and one is very slightly longer than the other.  This is normal on the Miss Revlon dolls, not a defect.

She has factory applied nail polish on both her hands and feet.  There is some over brushing and worn spots which is very typical of the polish on these dolls.

Miss Revlon's hair is a coarse saran in the typical strawberry blond color.  I am not 100% convinced that it may not have been cut at one time.  I know that the reference books state that the original set that they came in was a bunch of tight curls pulled back behind the ears with loose curls at the back around the neck.  This doll's hair appears to be shorter than what you would expect for this.  I've not seen enough of these dolls to be a good judge.  It is possible that her hair has been cut into this shorter bobbed style.  I pulled her hair back behind her ears in the second photo to show that it can be styled that way and does look lovely on her either way.  After all, she is a fashion model, right!

Overall she is a very clean fabulous doll.  This hard to find size would make a wonderful addition to any Miss Revlon or Ideal doll collection.   If I've left anything out that is important to you, please email me with any questions.
