Madame Alexander's Pussy Cat

FOR SALE:   20" Madame Alexander Baby

"Pussy Cat"
MINT IN BOX ~ All Original
Item Code #D-MA-PCMIB     ~
SOLD~

It is not known the exact date of issue of this doll.  These dolls are marked 1965 but the company continued to use these markings throughout her availability.  They were made from 1965-1990.  She is just precious and would make a wonderful addition to any collection in this beautiful condition.

Such a precious face.  Beautiful, soft, light blonde hair and pretty gray/blue eyes.  Hair is in its original set with pink hair ribbon on topknot.  Face paint is very pretty, soft blush, no cheek or lip rubs.  One eyebrow slightly ligher than the other (factory), and all painted lashes are there.

Pussy Cat has vinyl head, arms and legs with a cloth body.  She has a crier in her body that still works when you tip her.   Bloomers are same tiny rosebud print as matching dress.  Pussy Cat came in three sizes.  It is hard to measure these dolls due to their bent baby legs, but she measures around 18-20" depending on how you measure her.  In any case, she is the medium sized Pussy Cat.

As found in her box.  She still has the original pink tissue inside the box and the cardboard insert that holds her head in place.  I don't know if the plastic over her head is original, but I believe it is.  Box itself is a bit floppy and the lid has tears at each corner that have been taped.  Madame Alexander boxes are made of very thin cardboard so it is a wonder that any of them survive.  Still it has protected this sweetie just fine, for several years.

This is the label on the side of the box.  There are numbers hand written in ink (197/7) but I don't know what that means, or if it could have been put there by the store or a previous owner.  Could it mean 1977?  She is #5225 but I can't find that exact number in my reference books.  This is the correct box for her, blonde hair/blue eyes is hand checked, nothing is checked for Dress.

Pussy Cat still has her wrist tag. There is an address on the back of the tag that does show a zip code, and does mention Madame as still alive (she died Oct. 90)

This doll would be a lovely addition to any doll collection or would be a treasure for a special little girl to love.  I would keep her myself but I still have my own original Pussy Cat that can never be replaced.
