FOR SALE: Hard Plastic 8" Virga Lolly-Pop series - Blue Hair & original dress

"Ginny-type" from mid-50s.
Item Code #2D-Z-VLB
~SOLD~

Virga made a darling series of doll in the fifties called "Lolly-Pop" dolls.  Each doll in the series had a pretty pastel shade of hair with a dress to match.  This is the blue-haired one, although I can't seem to get the photos to show the actual color (appears more silver).  It is definitely bluer than these photos show.  The dress is original but may have faded over time because it is really more of a lavender than blue but it matches the ribbon in her hair so I think it is original to her.

BACK VIEW
She has a very nice full wig. Dress closes with a small brass "dough-nut" snap. There are no tags in the clothing.  The fabric just below the snap is a bit frayed but can be tucked into fold.  This dress appears to be more lavender than blue so I'm not sure if it has faded over time or not.  The hair ribbon is the same tone.  Since the dolls usually came in coordinating outfits to match the hair, my guess is that the blue has faded.  The dress does not appear to have ever been washed. The skirt portion is quite wrinkled, probably from storage.  It is still shiny and could probably use an ironing.  It appears like there is some glue residue on the bodice where there was possibly a flower at one time?  There is a light pen mark (about 1/2") across the front of the skirt, which isn't too noticeable, but is there.

Each Lolly-Pop doll came with a pastel shade of hair and corresponding dress.  They each had a ribbon with flowers secured into their hair.  Very nice facial coloring. Vibrant blush.  Sleep eyes work well.  This little girl still has her ribbon but only has a couple of  flowers still attached.   As with all Virga dolls, their heads seem a bit wobbly.  She is a walker and the movement works well.  Arms slightly loose but  will sometimes hold a pose.  Still a wonderful example for display.

Lolly-Pop dolls are hard to find.  The colors I  know of are green, blue, dark pink, light pink, purple, & yellow.  I've also seen silver but that might just be faded blue, and platinum but that may also be a faded color.  Not sure, there isn't a lot of documentation on these dolls.

She has typical molded on shoes.
She has replaced white vintage panties.

Not a mint doll, but a very nice example of one of Ginny's competitors of the 50s era.
