Interesting dolls from the early 1990s.  They are both marked ©Lauer Toys, Inc. 1991 on the backs of their necks.  Not sure how long these dolls were made but they may have been marketed at different times as the inscription on the plugs are different (see below).  There were a couple of different sizes of these dolls.  These are the smaller 9" size.  The unique feature of these dolls is that they can be filled with water to give them weight like a real baby (although it would have to be a very small baby).  They can also be filled with warm water to be very cuddly (almost like a child's hot water bottle).  I found them without clothing so redressed them in these cute little dolly diapers.   I've been told that these dolls came with a filling funnel to help get the water into them but I've never seen one.  I haven't had any trouble filling them by squeezing the plug while holding it under running water.  Takes time but it works.

Faces are in excellent condition. Minor amount of play wear.  Molded blond hair on both is in great condition, very little wear but there are some minor scuffs.  The girl has an actual synthetic ponytail coming out of the top of her head.  It is a bit fuzzy on the ends but can be curled.  I added the pink hair ribbon.

This back view shows the water plugs.  They are intact.  There are NO LEAKS in either doll.

What is interesting to me is that each plug has different markings.  The girl's plug has a US patent number, while the boy's plug says patent pending.  He is probably one of  the earliest ones.
