Betsy McCall's Wardrobe Cabinet

Cabinet does show signs of wear, however, any furniture pieces for the 8" Amer. Char. Betsy McCall doll are extremely hard to find.  Betsy's furniture line was white, with decals of tiny birds (and Betsy holding an umbrella).

The following pictures will show all angles of this piece.  As you will see, there are paint chips on all sides.  The front decals are still securely on the painted surface but over time, they have aged and darkened so what probably matched perfectly, now shows up as a definite decal.  I'm amazed that these decals are still on after probably 40 years.  

I washed the piece and got most of the soil off, but there are a few spots that appear rough.


Inside the wardrobe is missing the bar that goes across the top, where her clothes would hang.  Both brace sides are still there with notches where the bar should be placed.  I'm sure that one could find a proper dowel to fit, which would then allow this piece to be truly functional.  I'm not sure if there is anything else missing.

Other pieces of furniture in this line are a bunk bed set w/ladder, or a canopy bed, chest of drawers, and a rocking chair.  Other generic furniture made by Strombecker for 8" dolls was finished in a brown wood stain.  Betsy always had white furniture and Ginny had pink.  If you need Betsy's furniture, don't let this piece get away.
