Painted Lash Walker Ginny Dolls

These are just a few examples of Ginny dolls from 1954 made with painted lashes and a then, "new" patented walking mechanism. Most of these dolls were purchased years ago in various outfits and conditions.
I continue my quest to look for the accessories needed to complete them.

1954 My Twin Set #34
"Gretel"

This outfit was available from 1952 through 1954. The '52 version is also referred to as "Frolicking Fables - Christine". Then in 1953 was switched to, "Gretel" and promoted as part of a Twin Series set of "Hansel & Gretel". It was offered again in 1954 as "Gretel," but the set was called My Twin Set. The outfit could also be purchased separately as this one probably was. Because this has the Medford tag, I am assuming that it was from 1954. Without a tag it can be confusing to pin down a specific year for some of these popular outfits.

1954 My First Corsage #62

I am thrilled to be the owner of such a beautiful example of a very rare Ginny. Truly the crown in my collection so far.

This Ginny is an outstanding example of a very rare black Ginny produced for only a few years, 1953 as a strung, and 1954 as a walker, and, in a very limited supply.

The Corsage series was a high quality, popular one. Each fancy outfit came with its own corsage in a plastic cylinder container. The dress also has a pretty lace petticoat with satin trim as part of the outfit.

The trim on her hat matches the corsage in box. She wears plastic side-snap, flat heeled shoes, marked Ginny.

1954 My Kinder Crowd #26

A pretty blue taffeta dress with a pink lace overlay with splashes of gold. I never quite understood why this dress was in the Kinder Crowd series as it seems rather fancy. The majority of the Kinder line clothing is more school-ish. Perhaps this is a "birthday party" dress. Ginny wears a "Ginny Club" button from 1956.

I just love how the little picture of Ginny's pup is embossed on her felt skirt, along with her signature in script. I'm sure we Ginny collectors each have our favorite outfits and this is certainly one of mine.

1954 Whiz Kids #71

The Whiz Kids series of 1954 is another sought after series. This particular outfit is very hard to find complete. The unique feature of the Whiz Kids group is that each outfit in the series had a Talon zipper as part of the outfit. One of the most common to see is the #70 denim shorts pants, with the red check shirt and straw hat. I have one but haven't taken a photo yet, will add later.

	Painted Lash Walker 1954 My Tiny Miss #42 The Tiny Miss series of 1954 is one of the most popular groups to collect. It must have been popular with the little girls of the 50s because it seems there are many of these outfits around today. ~~~

This is one of my favorite little girls. I have had her since 1976. This is not the right hat for this outfit. It should be a green open crown straw hat with two flowers by her temple. I call this type of PLW "owl eyes" as they appear very alert as opposed to the ones with more almond shaped eyes. Unfortunately the photo is a bit overexposed so you cannot see her pretty brows and lashes. This photo shows how Vogue would vary the pattern of the same outfit. (I do not believe that the green oilcloth shoes on the doll on the right were ever really sold with this outfit. I added them because I liked how the ribbons matched her hair.)

For Rain or Shine Series

This popular knit outfit was available for several years in various colors. It seems the most popular color was yellow but I have seen it in pink, light blue, and red with a navy skirt. It is two piece; the "signature" blouse and a skirt with attached panties. A coordinating knit cap completes the set . In order to date the outfit, one must look at the tag. This outfit has the Medford black and white tag dating it from 1954-1956.

My Tiny Miss Series

One of the things that makes this brightly colored outfit so cute is the darling little plastic cut out of a scottie dog (Ginny's pup) that is sewn into the rick-rack hemline stitching. The red plastic belt is attached at the bodice with tiny brass balls and it buckles in the back. According to the books Ginny should be wearing a straw hat but that's missing so I put a yellow headband on her head in its place.

The outfit is being modeled by my Blonde/Brown eyed Molded Lash Walker but the outfit is actually part of the 1954 line, made for a PLW.

Unidentified Outfit

Another popular "animal" dress is this bright yellow dress with black trim. Stitched into the hemline of this outfit is a tiny whale. There is another popular "checked" print dress that has two whales but this dress only has one and there is no evidence that there were ever two. It is different than the others I've seen also, in that it does not have a plastic belt, but has a velvet ribbon that ties in the back. Since Vogue made variations in their clothing at times, I am not sure which outfit this is supposed to be. It has a Medford tag, dating it between 54-56.

My First Corsage
#65 White

This is also sometimes referred to as the bridesmaid dress. It came in both this white on white organdy with mint green ribbon trim, or in a pink organdy print with pink ribbons. She should have an open crown hat with flowers on the sides to complete the outfit. Her shoes are white satin tie. I've had this little girl for years. She has excellent hair but unfortunately her brows and lashes have completely yellowed.

1954 My Tiny Miss Series
Outfit #40
I found this Ginny as a nude doll in a bargin bin (she had no arms and her brows/lashes have turned yellow). I originally bought her for her great hair, planning on using it as a replacement on another doll. I had some extra arms so decided to fix her and dress her in this mix and match outfit. I found the hat and vest separately in a bag of mixed clothes. The shoes are navy blue but are not marked Ginny but I thought they complemented the dress well (probably Muffie's). I don't believe Vogue made any navy shoes for Ginny. I've added red cat-eye glasses to help hide her faded brows/lashes. This one's a keeper! She turned out great, my other doll will have to remain wigless a bit longer.

Ginny has just gotten a brand "new" puppy. This is 1954-55 "Sparky" (made by Steiff) her trusted friend through many adventures.

1954 My Tiny Miss Series
Outfit #43

Another in the Tiny Miss series for this year is a very pretty pink dress with a hot pink, lace trimmed attached apron. The hat has matching lace. I've added reddish/pink socks and white shoes. I've seen this dress shown with a black bow on the front as well. Both are correct.

I've had this Ginny for a very long time. Her hair is a bit fuzzy on the bangs and tips of the braids. When I first got her I thought she had ash blonde hair. I actually removed the wig and soaked it in Perk and it came out a very clean lemon yellow!
