Strawberry Shortcake Rag Dolls & Plush


The rag dolls were introduced to be huggable and squeezable friends. They were safe for even the youngest child and they too were scented. Their outfits are removable but not their hats. There was not a rag doll to match each of the small dolls. *~~~~** The only ones I know of are: Strawberry Shortcake, Raspberry Tart, Apple Dumplin' (with Tea Time Turtle), Mint Tulip, Lime Chiffon, Cherry Cuddler, Lemon Meringue, Orange Blossom, and Apricot (with Hopsalot). 	This is a slightly different version of a Strawberry Shortcake Rag Doll. She is smaller, measuring a little less than 12" and is tagged: Amtoy Š1980. It also states on the tag: Strawberry Shortcake, "Those Characters From Cleveland." Notice the similarity of dress with the one above, but this one has brown eyes and different facial coloring.
And yet, here is another sweet variation! This is a later doll, tagged Š1991, Those Characters from Cleveland, Inc. Notice the multicolored stockings, resembling the Berrykins line.

Huckleberry Pie

I found this interesting little Huckleberry Pie doll. Though he is clearly like the rag dolls, he has a vinyl head with rooted hair. I assume he must have had a yellow straw hat but unfortunately that was not with him when I found him. I've not seen him listed in any of my SSC catalogs but did find him in a SSC reference book. There is a Strawberry Shortcake with cloth body and vinyl head out there too. Don't believe though, that there are any of the other characters.

	SSC Pillow Doll *~~~~** This isn't really a rag doll but is a pillow doll. Crafty people could buy large pieces of fabric printed with patterns of the characters. Once cut and stuffed, they became doll/pillows used as decorative accents. Occasionally this fabric can still be found un-cut and ready for someone's creativity.

PLUSH PETS
There were also several plush toys introduced that were modeled after the many pets. They came in various sizes. Thanks to site visitor, Trisha, I have a photo to share with you of some of the various pets offered. From left to right, Rhubarb, Soufflé, Cheesecake, Pupcake, Custard, Hopsalot, Jelly Bear, Gooseberry, and Tea Time Turtle in front. I believe there are also Marmalade, Frappe, Parfait Parrot, and Melodie Belle.
