FOR SALE: Fisher-Price Joey, FP Tag #206
Item Code # D-FP-JOEY ~ SOLD ~ ~*~*~*~ PLEASE NOTE Disclaimer: When I received this doll in a shipment of several Fisher-Price "lap sitters," I opened the box and could tell immediately that they had come from a smoker's home. The seller failed to mention this (but I failed to ask) so I have been sprucing and cleaning these little kids so that they can find new homes. The dolls were otherwise in almost new condition, many with the netting still on their heads, so I think that most were probably displayed with little or no play at all. Unfortunately these dolls are not machine washable like so many of the other FP dolls so surface washing their bodies and spritzing with Febreeze fabric odor eliminator, along with washing their hair and removable clothing is about all I can do. They really are much improved! Keeping them out in the fresh air and not packed away, and an occasional re-spritzing with Febreeze will also help over time. If you yourself are a smoker, I doubt that you would even notice any lingering odor, but for those of us that do not smoke, there may be tell-tale signs such as a hint of smoke smell when deeply searching for it, or some yellowing of the lighter fabric. Any of the dolls that were part of that shipment will have this disclaimer so if I list one that doesn't, then it was not part of this group. SO,,, with that said, here is the description of this little guy:
14" Joey, is part of the Soft Girls series released in 1974. These dolls are also referred to as "lap sitters." There were six kids introduced initially, and Joey was the only boy of the group. He is somewhat more difficult to find today than the girls. His head is vinyl as well as his little hands. His body is made of cloth with non-removable shoes. Joey wears a non-removable outfit of striped t-shirt with denim jeans and cute sneakers with real laces. He has his original removable jacket with yellow sleeves and the logo is bright and clear.
Joey has a sweet playful expression, just begging for a hug! His coloring is very nice with lots of freckles across his cheeks. Joey's hair is in his typical short bowl cut. Very shiny, full, and clean. His fingers are all intact with no chew marks.
Full front and back views of Joey (stand not included, he'd rather sit in your lap anyway!) Hair is in the popular 70s bowl cut. I do not believe that his hair has been cut by anyone other than the factory but it appears a bit chopping in back. Bottoms of shoes are slightly yellowed. Tag is intact and very readable (not shown) but has a handwritten "K" in ink on it.
A great doll if you are collecting all in the series of these little ones, or if this was your childhood friend. Would also be a great friend to your own little boy or grandson! This precious Joey is just waiting to find a home with hugs! Feel free to email me with questions on this doll. |
