FOR SALE: Ideal's 1950's 18" Miss Revlon
made between 1956-59
Item Code #D-I-MRV18
~SOLD~
A beautiful example of one of Ideal's popular fashion dolls of the late 50s.  This is the 18" version (actual measurements are more like 17 1/2").  She is marked on the back of her neck Ideal Doll/VT-18.  Her body is a hard vinyl and she is jointed at the neck, arms, legs, and waist.  She is wearing a well documented, though un-tagged, dress, complete with seamed nylons, and satin half-slip.  Original flowers at waistline.  The outfit is complemented by original faux diamond drop earrings, and a rabbit's fur stole.  Her panties and shoes have been replace.  The dress is very clean, no holes or stains.   Her nail polish is present on fingers and toes.  There appears some over brushing and some chipping, but I do believe that this is original.

She has beautiful creamy facial coloring with no rubs.  Her eyes sparkle and all lashes are present.  There does not appear to be any blush to speak of but I believe this is how she was made.  Painted lashes and brows are strong.

She wears original drop rhinestone earrings in each ear.  Very very slight greenishness to ear where the metal meets the vinyl.  This is not uncommon and is relatively minor but wanted to mention it.

Back View shows her 50s fashion thigh-high nylons with the seam down the back.  Her hair has been combed and restyled and is being held in place with vintage bobby pins.  Dress closes with three working metal snaps.

About the only "problem" I can find with this doll is that there is a definite rough line on her vinyl in the upper right thigh area.  I believe this occurred at the factory in the finishing and in no way detracts from the beauty of this doll.  It is well hidden under her clothing.  One leg is slightly longer than the other which I have noticed is common among the Revlons because of how they were made at the factory.  It  isn't considered a defect but it makes it difficult for her to pose  without a doll stand (not included).

Original satin/tulle lace half slip.  Elastic has loosened on the waist so is pinned to fit.

Stole fastens with a hook/eye closure.

Overall she is a very clean fabulous doll.  She would make a wonderful addition to any Miss Revlon or Ideal doll collection.   If I've left anything out that is important to you, please email me with any questions.
